Not everyone knows what they want to be from a young age, but Sydney Levine did. She always knew she loved finding new ways to solve problems and that one day she would become an engineer.

Today, Sydney is an applications engineer with Zeeco Inc. in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In her position, Sydney has the unique opportunity to work with clientele from across the country and around the world. She and her team design and produce custom thermal oxidizers that burn off waste gas that would otherwise be harmful to the environment.

With varying emissions standards and regulations across different countries, Sydney is challenged on a daily basis to find new solutions to meet these demands. This allows her to assess a problem and work through possible solutions that will exceed the client’s expectations, which Sydney says is one of the most challenging but rewarding parts of the job.

We sat down with Sydney to learn more about her career as an engineer and passion for  the industry.

EnergyHQ is powered by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board – OERB – which is voluntarily funded by the state's oil and natural gas producers and royalty owners. The OERB provides free environmental restoration of abandoned well sites and works to educate the state's citizens about the oil and natural gas industry.
